How long should it take a company with one HR manager to check references? I know there is no set answer to this question, but I was wondering what the average time (or how long is too long) for an HR manager to check references. I do know the company (75+ employees) is expanding and that they are hiring for every position and that this HR rep is in charge of everything. Also, when would be agood time to follow up? i know my refs have not been contacted yet

Also what would a 5 hr energy do. Nice and simple boys, I'm completely ignorant about this stuff. Btw I've been working out every other day for about a month, it's going pretty well, and my purpose is to definetely build up muscle mass.
What is the average salary for HR Managers on the big Island of Hawaii? I am conducting an unofficial survey to determine the cost to relocate from Guam, where the cost of living is high, to Hawaii, where the cost of living is also high. However, I do not know about the salary base in Hawaii (Not Oahu). Since HR is a broad field, this position could be in several industries, but probably in service, financial or tourism areas in Hilo and Kailua-Kona.

How should I request confidentiality when sister inlaw is HR assistant at my company? My sister in law was recently hired at my company as the HR Assistant. I really don't feel comfortable with her knowing how much I make and would like to express this discomfort to the HR Director, her boss. The only thing is, it's only the two of them that work in the HR department and I don't want this to get back to my sister inlaw (they are both gossip queens). What should I do? Are there any rights that would protect a family member's information in the workplace?
What should I look for in an HR Director? A potential HR Director for our company is coming in today and I will be talking with her via tele-conference. What are some good qualities or issues I should look for/bring up? I work in a satelite office in Chicago and our Corporate office is in CA. There are only 3 of us here in the Chicago office. What are some qualities I should look for being in a remote office? Also, our last HR person totally ignored our office and was very hard to reach. That is going to be something I want to bring up. Any other ideas? Thanks.

I don’t know if I will be kept on full time and just want to get as much experience in HR as possible. Basically I want to learn and do more then what I am now. I have made this known to my coworkers and my supervisor. I've been taking all opportunities to gain skills in PeopleSoft and now I'm wondering, aside from this, what other skills can I develop and how? Any and all advice would be great and much appreciated.

Is HR 45 the first major step of this administration toward disarmament of US citizens? I've been receiving information on HR 45. According to the buzz, it is the resolution to establish a national gun registry, invoke a federal gun tax, institute more restrictive qualification to gun ownership, and make illegal the sale of guns by private citizens. It is working it's way though Congress now. I'm not familiar with it, does anyone else have information? I'd love to know what the likelihood of a vote would be. It sounds like infringement.
